Culahn
The Culahn are a race of diminutive warriors from the frozen lands to the north of the Rakan empire. They live in a tight knit clannish society that is often ruled by a matriarch. They are often seen as barbarians by the more civilized races of the world and are thus treated with the respect one gives a wild animal.

Culahn Lands: The Culahn hail from lands in the frozen north where they hunt walrus, winter elk, reindeer and other animals of the tundra. As such they prefer the cold lands to those of the equatorial regions. In fact, it is not uncommon for Culahn to bathe in frozen lakes during the middle of winter, claiming they needed to 'cool off' from the bitter heat of the winter months.
Religion:
Languages: The Culahn have a very elaborate oral history complete with lengthy sagas. There is also a less known written form of their language that is known only among the Druids and Bards of the Culahn. Culahn also learn the common tongue of their human neighbors early in their life. Because of this very few foreigners are ever taught the spoken form of their language and no foreigner has ever been taught how to read their written form.
Notes:
Racial note: Culahn follow all the rules for Halflings as given in the HackMaster Player's Handbook.
Clerical note: All Culahn clerics are limited to level 2 spells at best.
Bard note: Though the Bard class is not allowed, those who take up the storytellers life are considered bards in the Culahn culture and given great respect.
The Culahn tend towards Druidism and ancester worship. It is not uncommon for a Culahn warrior to pray to his fathers spirit for power in the next battle. The gods of the Culahn are nothing more then great heroes of the past who have been elevated to the world of the imortals. Culahn tend towards the lawful and Neutral alignments. Their honor is above reproach when dealing with oaths and this is often misunderstood by foreigners who expect nothing more then brutal savages. Culahn communities exist in most frontier human settlements. They hold no racial biases against any other race and believe that every individual is different. As such, even if they hold your father in the highest regard, you must prove yourself worthy of their regard as well. They do their best to get along with others in their community and are forgiving of most minor infractions, as long as they are not repeated. Culahn stand about 3 feet tall and weigh between 50 and 100 pounds. They look very much like half-sized elves and are sometimes mistaken for elven children. The males are able to grow beards while the women do not. Most Culahn have pale skin and light colored hair, with reds and oranges predominate. Their eyes tend towards blue and green and their ears have points similiar to that of elves. They reach the age of maturity between 15 and 25 years and can live into their second century, though most die on the field of battle long before then. Culahn are a truly noble, if bloodthirsty people. They belive in the power of oaths and will never willingly break one unless the oath was brought about by trickery or deception. They are very hearty eaters and have an exceptional thirst for hard drink. Many a Culahn has accepted a cask of fine spirits in lieu of payment in hard coin. As such, many Culahn appear to be poor by human standards but the Cuhlan have a saying that explains this misnommer, "If you die tonight, who will spend your money tomorow?"
