Do you want to play a key, multimedia role in our newsroom, contributing in a strategic way to our news Web site, weekly newspapers and daily print operation? Are you an MVP candidate?
The News-Times seeks someone with print and online skills to solicit, gather, assemble and strategically publish user-generated content on our Web site and in our niche publications. This employee needs to be a good ambassador, a strategic thinker and a multitasker. So, they are looking for someone to cruise the web (and the local town) to generate content that comes from non-traditional sources.
Now, this is not a request for bloggers to sign up from all over the country. If anything, this is a request for a local blogger to join the newspaper and blog for them.
I think I could do this... All I would have to do is quit my day job, hope to make something close to the same salary, and drive all around town talking to people and posting local interest stories on the newspapers web page.
Then again, if they are using the Netscape pay scale ($1K per month) then there is no way I could quit my day job and do this!
Either way, this is an interesting move on the part of a local newspaper. Rather than advertise for a "local reporter" they are using Internet buzz words to try and get some "hip" blogger to join them
