Just this morning I clicked on the "View/Add Pics" link in my MyBlogLog profile and I was surprised to see that Yahoo has integrated Flickr into MyBlogLog.
Right above the are where you can upload new images for your MyBlogLog account is a button marked "Click Here to Automatically Show Your Recent Flickr Photos". Clicking on the link takes you to a page (if you have a Flickr/Yahoo account) where you confirm or deny the request to link up to your Flickr account. Since my Flickr account is currently empty I'm not sure how well this is going to go.
After adding the Flickr link to my account I went back to my profile page. Nope, no change. The only place to find the Flickr link is on my pics page. Why is that? Shouldn't they put the Flickr link on my profile page for all to see? It's almost as if they didn't want people to know that I linked my Flickr account.
I took a few minutes and uploaded two photographs to my Flickr account. One of them is public and the other is private. Now, if you look at my profile pics page you will see the public photo.
This is neat and all but they should have the Flickr integration on the main profile page. They could put it right above the "My Profile" section.
This is only the first of many changes we will be seeing now that Yahoo owns MyBlogLog. The one thing that bothers me most about such integrations is the loss of anonymity. I like keeping my on line accounts seperate from each other. I don't want Yahoo to know that this Flickr account is associated with that MyBlogLog account. If this keeps up all of my varied email accounts will end up merged together.
